Graduates of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree programme who amongs other courses had been trained in the area of Animal Health and Production are readily employed in the Veterinary Division of Federal, State and Local government public services where they are needed for veterinary clinical services, food animal production, pet care, and animal disease control and eradication programmes. They are also readily employed in livestock and poultry farms, Universities, Colleges of Agriculture, Research Institutes, the Police, Army, Immigrations, Zoos and Wild Life Reserves etc. A significant proportion of veterinary graduates go into private practice which has formed a strong anchorage for pet care and small to large scale animal production. Higher degree graduates of the department render specialized services in farm animal management and health to practicing and potential farmers especially in areas of diseases control and livestock development technologies. They are also involved in research and training in areas of animal health and production in universities, research institutes and veterinary divisions of other allied establishments.
